604media frontline
chances are you'll be in contact with at least one of these fine folks
steve rio | creative director
Steve has been involved in design for the past 12 years. He began his career developing print advertising campaigns & branding, and quickly moved in to web development in 1999. Since then he has been constantly evolving his skill set, and staying current on the latest technologies. Many late nights he can be found hunched over design blogs, checking out the latest & coolest. He is an expert in Flash, Adobe Suite, HTML, CSS, XML, RSS, and a born manager and designer.
When he is not surgically attached to his computer, Steve makes music, lots of it. He recently played in a punk / metal band, produces hiphop beats, and is currently working on his second solo release, which is a combination of folk and electronic sounds. Steve is an avid cyclist. In April & May of 2007, he embarked on his first long distance ride, cycling from Vancouver BC to Tijuana Mexico, down the Coast highway. Since he returned, he has not put his car back on the road, and has made a commitment to commute via bike or public transit in an effort to be part of the solution towards reducing CO2 emissions. Steve is also a health nut, and can often be heard giving sermons (he calls them tips) on healthy eating, exercise, and balanced mind/spirit practices.
kelly walker | technical director
Kelly has been involved in server side and desktop technologies for the past 10 years. He began his career providing technical support for small businesses. Before transitioning into the "web" industry, Kelly found himself overseeing the Technical Support Help Desk for HSBC Bank North America, which was comprised of 100 plus personnel spread over four geographical locations. He then progressed into a technical support role where he designed, planned and executed enterprise Disaster Recovery and Replication solutions for HSBC Bank Canada. During his career at HSBC, he realized that his true passion was web based technologies. Using his enterprise experience, Kelly has become a web architect and an expert in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML and RSS. He is a born project manager with a keen eye for requirements and process.
When he is not in "code" mode, Kelly enjoys spending time outdoors. Being an active individual, you will find him hiking, camping, sailing, bicycling, and snowboarding. Kelly has spent a lot of time traveling in developing countries. These experiences have given him a unique and down-to-earth perspective on life, and helped shape the person he is today.
brendan wing | technical lead
Brendan was involved with the support side of the I.T. industry for many years before transitioning into web development. Shortly after leaving the University of Victoria, Brendan began working for 604media where he enjoys working with new and emerging web-based technologies. Brendan's roles include project management and quality assurance and he deals mostly with the post-development life of 604's projects. When Brendan is not working, he enjoys road-tripping, camping in remote places, playing video games and watching hockey.
